Awards Ceremony

Our day text

On the 19th October 2009 students from the 12 winning schools travelled from all over the UK with their teachers for a very special day in London.

Plane

Most of the schools travelled by train but some, like St Michaels Primary School from Belfast, had to fly to London

London EyeAll the schools were offered a trip on the London Eye so that they could get a really good look at London and the Houses of Parliament...

Big Ben

...where they were joined by a VIP guest list of MPs, Make IT Happy employer supporters and judges.

Once each school had collected their prize money and a certificate from Andrew Miller MP, Chair of PITCOM, the Lord Speaker announced the 3 overall winners and the winner of the highly commended prize. Click here to see the pictures.

And as an extra treat, everybody was given a goodie bag before they went home. The contents of the goody bags were generously donated by the following organisations:

  • Motorola
  • Vodafone
  • IET
  • Nominet
  • Logica
  • Parliament Education Service
  • Trend Micro

Thank you to everyone for helping to make it a very happy day!

'Make IT Happy' called on schools to use technology to describe how they would change an aspect of their local community for the better.
